Vacation

After today I have a weeks vacation!! Yaaay!
I know, it doesn't sound like much, and it's not, but I will be spending it in my hometown Vimmerby prepping for my lovely Angelica's wedding. Plus I'm moving out of my apartment. And I'll sort out all the last stuff for LA. Nuts!! I'm leaving in just over a month, haha!

And except for the very whort week of vacation I'll spend a weekend in Båstad with lovely Daniella and Karin. And hopefully when I get to LA I can take a couple of days from sorting stuff out and just be a tourist. Yeah. I think that will do. I don't mind the one week vacation at all. :)
All of you with six weeks: I'm moving to LA.

Kindness

Things are working out. Things that I thought would be a problem are solving them selves thanks to all the wonderful people in my life, helping out, being there. A place to stay, help when I couldn't do the smallest things, a dress from London, shoes from Gothenburg, costs of things I thought I needed. The stress and anxiety that has been relieved by these wonderful people, they don't know how much each little thing has meant.

Midsummer

On Friday it's time for Swedish Midsummer! There's 35 of us spending it in a friends garden, and I bet all of us will try to cram in to his outdoor hot tub, haha!
Heres the German take on Midsummer. Slightly exaggerated. Just slightly. :p

Lexington

Last night was spent at the Lexington fashion show, hosted by Bindefeld! It was really nice, and they were so lucky with the weather!! After some bubbly we got to see the show, and then had a great buffet outside in the sun! Lovely!! And of course, the goodiebag was a killer! Great night with great company!

Visa

There's alot of papers to get in order before you get your Visa. Original receipts of payments, documentation stamped and signed by the authorities and so on! Tomorrow I'm (hopefully) getting the last two things out of the way, and then on Thursday it's interview time!

Loony's Review

I have watched soooo many movies lately that if I were to write about all of them, that's all this blog would be about. This movie however deserves a mention.

Prometheus (serious spoiler alert)

The Plot: Ok so, scientists fly into space to find our makers at a distant planet. And they do, big white dudes!! They seem to be all dead though, but there are lots of other things to play with. Germs, worms, general fun things that might kill you. Nothing to worry about. Unless, you have an evil robot, a delusional old man and an incredibly stupid crew on board. Then there's some stuff to worry about. Like being impregnated with a squid, evil worms taking over your body, oh and that's right, the big white dudes want to destroy mankind. Apparently they weren't happy with how we came out, or something. Which has to be stopped, of course. All while surviving. So there's that.

Right, lets brake it down! Actors!
First of all, Noomi, Noomi, Noomi, I love you but please do something about that horrible accent! Or have the character come from Norway or something! Anything, but pretending to be Brittish is not working!
Michael Fassbender. Fanstastic as always.
Charlize Theron, of course also great, but I wish her character had had as much balls as you think she does when you first meet her. I guess I have to see Snowhithe and the Huntsman for that.
Guy Pierce, why in gods name did they need him to get all maked up as an old man? Why not just get an old man?!?!
Idris Elba I have waited for, wondering where he would turn up! Unfortunately this part doesn't leave much of an impression, but def does it's job.
I do like Logan Marshall-Green, I just wish he could have lived just a little bit longer.

Bad stuff:
Taking helmets off in a breathable environment not worrying about germs and bugs? Really??
Cute guy dies to early.
When all of a sudden a crew member turns in to Sloth from the Goonies.
Squiddy alien thingies. Where's the beautiful Spacejockey??
Guy Pierce posing as an old man instead of an actual old man! Stupid!

Good stuff.
Ok, here we go!!! Noomi is actually a good actor and as a buildup for a no 2, where she'd toughen up a bit, it's great!
I love the fact that we get right down to business, and that the back story doesn't take to long. And we still have the classical Alien shots.
The connection to the first Alien movie. It makes you want more :)
And of course, effects!! Except for the squids, as mentioned before.

Def worth seeing and even though I'm not in aw, I can't wait for no 2!
The second Alien movie is my all time favorite. No pressure.

Weird

Yesterday I met up with my sweetheart Karin for a walk in the crappy weather, and it turned into a tourist day in our hometown! "Taste of Stockholm" started the same day so we had some dutch pancakes and polish pirogi, and the walk took us not only to the city aquarium but also on to a big museum ship, where we got to go down into the engine room. Weird thing to do, but lots of fun! How often do you get to see a steam engine of a huge ship!

Things

Even though I have been at home for a while I've had time to do a few things this past month!
I managed to go the first Sunday hangover poolparty of the year at my neighbours place! Everyone was hangover except me, of course :)
It's going to be the hangout place of the summer this year too, no doubt! :)

And I went to my adorable goddaughters birthday! The little cutie was stunned by the singing and the whole candle blowing thing didn't really make sense to her :) Her sister and a friend was more than happy to help out though!

Aaaaand I hosted a bachelorette party for my darling Angelica!! Fortunately organizing it could be done from the sofa over the past couple of months, and since we had a tower suite at the hotel, I was never far from a lovely hotel bed if I needed a powernap :)
She was super nervous and we tricked her alls sorts of things! The funniest thing of the day was all the girls going wild in the hotel spa. Yes. Topless! Hahaha!

And, the last thing!! I got lucky and a friend was going to London and was able to by the bridesmaids dress for me there, yaaay!!!! :) So, so, so happy!!

Better

After having been on sick leave for what feels like forever, I'm starting to get better. The other day I actually did some multitasking from home. Dying my hair, eyebrows an eyelashes while tanning :)

Test

When we least expect it, life sets us a challenge to test our courage and willingness to change. At such a moment, there is no point in pretending that nothing has happened or in saying that we are not ready.
The challenge will not wait. Life does not look back.

Valborg

Yesterday it was Valborg, a celebration of the springs arrival! So everywhere in Sweden fires were burning, songs were sung and people got wasted. Lovely tradition.

Nothing

This weekend I have done absolutely nothing. Besides getting a tan, listening to the ocean, barbecue and drinking wine. Doing nothing is clearly underrated!

Loony's review

Ok, so lets do three quick ones!

The Woman In Black

The Plot: Evil Ghost Woman makes kids in the village kill themselves whenever someone has seen her ghosting around. So Harry Potter (yes, it really is), stuck in the house where she hangs around, tries to figure out what she wants, while she keeps scaring him half to death!

It might not sound like much, but I actually liked it!! Daniel Radcliffe is good as the single dad trying to figure out what the heck is going on, and even though the story could have been tied together better, it'll do for a horror film! The ghost is the perfect amount of scary and the only thing that ruins it is the fact that she screams, which makes it a little bit ridiculous. And also the whole diving-into-the-marshes-to-find-what-noone-has-found-before seemed a bit stupid, but other than that it was ok!
Def worth seeing!

Perfect Sence

The Plot: Scientist girl falls in love with chef while an epedemic rob people of their senses one by one.

Generally not my type of movie, but I actually really liked it! I have never really been a fan of Ewan McGregor but I'm finding myself liking him more and more (the fizzywater burp he did during an interview might have something to do with it). I'm still on the fence about Eva Green, especially since she is doing that horrid vampire movie with Johnny Depp, but in this movie I like her.
A different take on life, and really a sad story.
Worth seeing. Yes.

The Hunger Games

The Plot: As part of a very nifty punishment for a past uprising teenagers from every district has to do their best to kill each other in the annual televised Hungergames! Katniss takes her younger sisters place and learns to put on a show and stay alive!

So, I had really high expectations as everyone says this is THE best film ever, and I just didn't think it was. Nothing wrong with Jennifer Lawrence, but I would have liked her character better if she would have been...  A bit more awesome, you know! Stanley Tucci is an old favourite of mine, and he is fantastic in that blue hair! Josh Hutcherson was an escellent surprise, and I look forward to seeing him in future movies! Maybe it was just the fact that he was also in the movie, but Josh somehow reminded me of Woody Harrelson!
It's still a good movie and I might even see it one more time, but I think it's better if you keep the expectations low so you don't get dissapointed. Like I did with John Carter! Reeeaaally low expectations means it really wans't that bad! :)
Of course worth seeing.

Refresher

I  just got word, the school will let me take the required first class in Marketing as a "refresher" which means I can take other marketing classes at the same time! Yaaay!!! This was one of my fears, that I would have to take the first class during the first semester and have to wait to the second semester for all the other classes!
So, check!! :)

Done

Yesterday I gave my job my three months notice!
I feel really good about it! :) Initially I wanted I leave of absence, but once they denied that and I had let it sink in, I'm ok with it. It's scary of course, to not have the backup if something happends. But now I'm free to stay after a year if I feel like it. Either way, I need a change and they need someone content with what they offer. There are no hard feelings, and this employer has by far been the best one in my career. Great people, really down to earth. I'm going to miss them all.
But I'm going to gain a whole lot of other stuff.

:)

Lake Mead

I just got invited to a boatparty on Lake Mead in Vegas in May! Man, I really want to go, last year was such a great time! But I guess it would be hard to top that anyways, and I'm sure I'll have lots of other fun stuff come my way soon enough... :)

Some pics from last year...

Loony´s review

Sherlock Holmes - A game of shadows

The Plot: Once again the very A.D.D. Sherlock Holmes fights crime with his ever so patient Doctor Watson. Or not so patient. But having had his wife thrown off a train into a river by Holmes, he is happy to oblige. Apparently. So they set of to stop the evil Moriarty, who has no better reason for destroying the world than money. Surprise!

Well, as you can see, I found the story a bit thin. As in, a lot of effects all over the place, so much that it's hard to actually see the story somewhere in there! Kudos to Guy Ritche, a couple of times there I got a "Snatch" feeling, but this is Sherlock Holmes, so no. A Sherlock that is a psychic McGyver when it comes to fights, which in the end just gets ridiculous when he apparently meets his match!
As the lovely leading lady from the first movie is (spoiler) killed right at the beginning they threw in another able woman, the Swedish Noomi Rapace! She was awesome in the Swedish trilogy of The girl with the dragon tattoo, and she did fine in this
. I wouldn't say she was great, it just didn't seem like she took to the challange. Besides from working with Robert Downey Junior, of course. :)
Anyways. I said as the movie started that I missed the old Sherlock Holmes. Who solved petty murders with heavy pondering and sitting in his chambers smoking his pipe. World domination was never really on his plate, so I'm not really liking it. The second time either. To much, to fast.

Calm

After a couple of months feeling slightly bipolar, I'm getting back to my old self again.
Turns out I'm an emotional person after all! ;) Which is of course a good thing, but lately I've been so tightly wound you could have played me like a balalaika!
Not anymore though! I am now back to my "Mother Theresa" state of mind, haha. At least for today!

Since my job wouldn't give me a leave of absence I have to make a decision by friday next week if I want to give notice and quit, or stay put and not go to the US.
Of course I have already made up my mind.

One step at a time...
